Scott Pilgrim: Master of Multiple Media

You know the story, right? It’s a classic, it’s been done a million times. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love, girl eventually falls for boy but can only be with him on the condition that boy fights and defeats girl’s seven evil ex’s. If you are were not already aware of the epic story of Scott Pilgrim, you are now. No need to thank me, you’re quite welcome.

The collection: Book 6 out very soon!

The story of the 21 year old Canadian Scott and his quest for the heart of his true love was first told by Bryan Lee O’Malley in his 6 part series of pocket sized comic novels. It is soon to be released as a movie starring the awesome Michael Cera and directed by the even more awesome Edgar Wright , as well as a downloadable game for PSN and (later) XBLA.

Granted, this is not unusual, Comic becomes Movie becomes Game is a fairly standard formula, usually starting with a great comic and ending with a kinda shitty game, but I have a good feeling about Scott’s multimedia adventures. The reasoning behind my enthusiasm is simple, the planets are aligned, everything is in perfect synchronisation.

Movies, Comics & Video Games – The Holy Trinity

A comic book…

…inspired by movies and video games.

A movie based upon a comic book…

…inspired by movies and video games.

A video game based upon a movie based upon a comic book…

…inspired by movies and video games.

This can only end well.
