MAG and SOCOM 4 and Confrontation multiplayer servers to be shut down

Fans of the 256 player PS3 shooter MAG and the third-person Navy Seal ’em up Socom will be understandably gutted to hear that Sony plans on pulling multiplayer support in early 2014.

As of the 28th of January next year Sony will be shutting down the online servers for MAG, Socom 4 and Socom: Confrontation, rendering the games impossible to play online.

While mostly a slight inconvenience for Socom players it renders MAG almost entirely unplayable, as it is an online-only game for the most part which has to be a bit of a sack tap if you spent money on it.

Still, we’re on the cusp of a new generation and no doubt better things are still to come (like Planetside 2 for example, you lucky future PS4 types).

The new Socom is H-Hour: World’s Elite, from David Sears the creative director of Socom 1&2.
