Bejeweled Blitz

Bejeweled is just one of those puzzle games that I’m sure many of you have stumbled upon or possibly become addicted to. So for those who are in the know, I welcome you to the fast-paced world of Bejeweled Blitz which is available on PC. For those who may not be clued up, here is the 411.

Bejeweled is a puzzle game where you need to swap adjacent gems to make an identical chain of three.  The more gems you can get into your chain, such as a chain of four or even five, the more points you get. Bejeweled Blitz is basically this but you only have one minute to get the highest score possible.

You also get Special Gems depending on how many gems you can clear in a chain. If you match four you get a Flame Gem, which can blow up surrounding gems. Match five in a ‘T’ or ‘L’ shape and you get a Star Gem which zaps all gems that are vertical or horizontal to the gem. Get five in a row and you get the elusive Hyper cube. You also get an additional bonus called the Speed Bonus by matching the gems quickly. If you manage to match the gems quickly enough and achieve 1,000 points, you then start of the Ignition Meter which you need to fill. Doing this gives you additional points at the end of the match. Also look out for the Multipliers in the grid as they can also beef up your final score.

As well as attempting to get yourself a high score, you also have the chance to collect some much needed Bonus Coins. These beauties can be used to purchase one of the six available Boosts. The five various Boosts you can get, which consist of five extra seconds and scrambler can all help to make the most of your limited time. Within each game you can only use three boosts and they last a total of three matches so you need to choose your Boosts wisely.

But do bear in mind that these Boosts do cost some serious coins, so you have to make sure you collect those bad boys during each game. For those who are as impatient as I am in regard to collecting coins, if you purchase the PC game it automatically comes with 1,000,000 coins.

Bejeweled Blitz is just one of those games which you can literally lose yourself in playing because it is so simple to get into. The best part is that it is suitable for all types of gamers from the newbie to the more experienced button basher. Bejewled Blitz also gives you the option to link your game to your Facebook account so you can now compete with your friends for the highest score. To me Bejewled Blitz is the perfect game to complete any gamers’ collection.
