Here at Ready Up it is perhaps something of an understatement to say that we cover a fair few games between us, bringing you reviews, features, blogs and interviews spanning all platforms and genres. Today though we bring you a Ready Up first – an announcement of a game which one of our team had a hand in making, and a chance to put your questions to the game’s producer for a forthcoming interview.
As many of you already know, when I’m not writing for Ready Up I work as a Junior Game Designer for Relentless Software, the developers of Buzz! and the brains behind Blue Toad Murder Files, who have today lifted the lid on their newest foray into social gaming, which I just happened to help design.
Quiz Climber is a social quiz game where players pit their general knowledge against that of their friends. Featuring thousands of questions, each correct answer sees your woodland critter jump to the next branch on the trivia tree, leapfrogging your pals’ positions in your bid to reach the top! But be warned, the higher you climb, the harder the questions get!
“We thought it would be great if you could play a quiz with all your friends and family and see how well you did,” Andrew Eades, executive director at Relentless Software, commented. “The gameplay sounds simple but it’s amazingly addictive as you overtake your friends whilst climbing the leaderboards.”
Due for release in Spring 2011 and published by Chillingo, whose iPhone hits include Angry Birds and Cut the Rope, Quiz Climber follows Relentless’ successful recipe of producing simple, familiar games that are instantly understandable and playable by everyone, whilst marking their return to the trivia that made their games a household name.
Quiz Climber will be making its official debut to the gaming press at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco (to which I of course tried to blag myself a ticket!), taking place February 28 – March 4, 2011, where more features and gameplay will be revealed.
In the meantime, if there’s anything you want to ask about the game head over to our forum where we’re taking questions for a soon-to-be-recorded podcast interview with the game’s producer, Jade Tidy.
