Owners of older Xbox 360 consoles – manufactured between 2006 and 2008 – claim that Rockstar’s GTA V game doesn’t run quite as smoothly as it does on newer models of the machine. Though it isn’t clear what’s the cause behind the issue experienced by these players, the problem seems to start at the beginning of the game, just after the cutscenes after the first mission, causing the console to freeze before ultimately crashing.
A few possible solutions have been floating around the net but only one seems to have had a fair amount of success in solving the issue. The protocol requires you to go through the following steps; delete all game data, clear system cache three times, delete marketplace data from storage system items before unplugging the console for three minutes. After this, install the “install” disc and power off without inserting the “play” disc then restart the console and install the latter. It is worth noting that the last step goes against Rockstar advice not to install the “play” disc which we reported on last week.
Rockstar hasn’t commented on these claims yet.
