Additionally, the update will allow European hunters to interact with Wii U gamers in North America, a feature sought after since launch.
The news was confirmed yesterday in a tweet on the official Nintendo of Europe Twitter account, @NintendoEurope, which said:
“The #MH3U software update for #WiiU that allows Off-TV Play on the GamePad & cross-region online play with the US arrives on 16/4”.
There is currently no word on whether the Nintendo 3DS version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will receive an update as well. Some players have expressed concern at not being able to play local multiplayer cross-region, while others have outlined compatibility issues with the Monster Hunter Packet Relay Tool, which allows 3DS users to borrow a Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate session from a WiFi-enabled Wii U console.
Twitter user @sketXIII asked the @NintendoEurope account: “does the update allow more than 1x3DS to connect to the packet relay tool? Because its useless otherwise!”
The free update to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be available on the European Wii U eShop on the 16th of April.
