I wish it could be Christm… Friday every day

Here we are; it’s Wednesday night and I’m already excited about Friday.

In fact, already is an understatement, I’ve been (almost visibly) excited for a few weeks now.

You see, when you get to my age, some things are just not what they used to be. Beer – not the same now I don’t have to hide from passing police cars in the park to enjoy it. Christmas – I’ve recently started to get socks each year. My birthday – the next one is the the big three zero. Ick.

So, I take great delight in looking forward to the things I can, such as Friday’s release of Burnout Paradise, which I am utterly convinced will be brilliant. Sadly, the company I work for refuse to accept that Burnout Day should in fact be counted as a form of religious holiday, so I have decided to take a day off of work to enjoy it. (Well, and of course to enjoy the fact that I won’t be at work)

I’d love to harp on about Burnout Paradise some more now, but it would be the blog equivalent of all those half-witted 12 year olds that have already reviewed games on Amazon.co.uk that won’t be out for sixth months, so I’ll hold off until Friday at the very least and try to post something objective about the game then.

Anyway, on to my main point: the close proximity of this launch combined with todays sudden rush of new GTA IV previews really got me thinking about what other gaming moments that you personally are really looking forward to this year for whichever games machine you have or happen to favour. The only one I’ve not mentioned so far that I am almost bursting (with excitement, not wee) to play is LittleBigPlanet, which looks like it could take up months of my time.

I’d love to see some comments regarding your most anticipated gaming moments for this year, or otherwise you can call me a big feckless dolt for getting so excited about a game. Cheers.
