Welcome back to our feature where we aim to outline the new releases that that our readers might be interested in.
We start this month’s Incoming with a revelation: this is the last time I post this blog without release dates for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 games! With the launch of two new consoles this November, our transition to a new console generation will finally be complete.
But that doesn’t mean that there’s not a lot to play on current systems. On 11th October we get that other Ellen Page game, Beyond: Two Souls, David Cage’s follow-up to Heavy Rain. On the same day, Europeans will also get to a chance to make up their minds about the controversial Dragon’s Crown, available on both PlayStation 3 and Vita, which Paul covered in his Super Arts series on Vanillaware.
The PC has some interesting titles hitting virtual and retail shelves too, with Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut and Rocksmith 2014 due before the end of October. I also don’t doubt that a fair few of you are looking forward to Batman: Arkham Origins, released on 25th October on practically everything. With a new developer at the helm, will Origins live up to the legacy left behind by Rocksteady Studios?
It’s also an absolutely banner month for Nintendo fans, with the gorgeous The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD leading the way, out now. Then, next week, we’ll see a welcome world-wide launch of Pokemon X and Y on the 3DS, with Sonic: Lost World arriving on 18th October for platformer fans. Finally, we round out the end of the month with the next entry in the fantastically quirky Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series with the eShop-exclusive Dual Destinies on 24th October.
Meanwhile, there’s a solid selection of titles on PSN+ for both EU and NA subscribers, with the former getting the likes of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and Far Cry 3, and the latter receiving Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and the cross-play version of Hotline Miami.
