Transport Tycoon Released on iOS and Android

This version of Transport Tycoon appears to be based on the later sequel Locomotion, and features its graphical core and several of its gameplay tweaks. Thankfully, the update contains no “free-to-play” hooks whatsoever.

Chris Sawyer’s Transport Tycoon was originally released on MS-DOS in 1993 (complete with Strathclyde University’s Livingstone Tower), though it eventually made it to some console platforms, including the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

What was intended as a sequel eventually became the legendary RollerCoaster Tycoon when Chris Sawyer grew interested in roller coasters during development.

A trailer for the new iOS and Android release is embedded below. Alternatively, if you want to re-live Transport Tycoon on Windows or Linux, you might want to check out OpenTDD, an open-source recreation of Transport Tycoon Deluxe which continues to receive new updates and features.
