PlayStation 4 Release Date and Launch Line-up Revealed

Gamers were treated to a massive influx of PlayStation-centric news, as Sony made a series of hardware and software announcements concerning the PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita.

Those who have already pre-ordered Sony’s latest console will be pleased to hear that it launches here on 29th November (at the previously-announced price of £349), only two weeks after the North American launch of 15th November. The slight EU delay is likely to ensure that NA territories have enough units to cover the vital Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

However, this is a massive improvement over the PS3, which launched in Europe a whole five months after it was available to North American audiences.

Sony also announced that additional PS4 controllers will be available at launch in red and blue variants, priced at an RRP of £54, considerably more expensive than the NA price of $59.99. On the handheld side of things, Sony revealed that it would slash the price of the PlayStation Vita to €199/$199, though we don’t have a price in pounds for comparison.

Outside of hardware, Sony listed an impressive line-up of titles expected for the new system before the end of the year, exhibiting a healthy-mix of retail, digital and indie titles:
