Another day, and another popular, former THQ, franchise re-launch has been confirmed. Today it is Relic Entertainment’s Company of Heroes 2, which was acquired by publisher Sega during THQ’s asset sales. Company of Heroes 2 will be hitting stores shelves and digital libraries everywhere, worldwide, on June 25th this year.
This is not the first previous THQ game to get a new release date since the companies bankruptcy, and not the first time the developer has been grateful to their new publishers for the opportunity. Executive producer of Company of Heroes 2, Jonathan Dowdeswell, has praised Sega’s recent acquisition: “Our acquisition by Sega has given us the chance to work with a new partner that has a great track record of working with long standing PC franchises.”
A Company of Heroes 2 BETA was announced to happen sometime in early 2013 but THQ, but hasn’t been mentioned since, until now as the game’s Producer, Greg Wilson, has stated: “The wait won’t be long as players will soon be able to help us test and balance multiplayer in the upcoming closed beta. Details will follow shortly.” No details have been confirmed yet, but with a release date set for June it’s unlikely to be too long of a wait. For now, Sega have released a batch of new screenshots which can be seen below.
