‘The Witness’ Still coming to PC & iOS

Sony’s latest press conference raised many eyebrows over Braid’s developer Jonathan Blow’s latest creation ‘The Witness’, in particular its possible PS4 exclusivity. Following these questions, Jonathan Blow took to the game’s official website to respond to these worries:

“Our deal with Sony is a limited-time exclusivity that applies to competing console platforms. Basically it is that you will see the game on the PlayStation 4 for a while before you will see it on the Wii U or the rumored next Microsoft console.” Blow continued to state that “This exclusivity does not prevent us from being on the PC or iOS at launch, for example.” This statement also lends itself to the idea that there could well be a WiiU/Next Gen Xbox console release at a point in the future, but not for the game’s launch.

The decision, according to Blow, was down to limited time a resources to develop the game, and Sony being more enthusiastic about the game. “There were people at Sony who really liked the game and were keeping in touch with us about it, and so we naturally started going to their PS4 developer events, got a dev kit, and started playing with it.” The Witness is expected to launch sometime in 2013.
