Incoming – Loot and Leveling

Welcome back to our feature where we aim to highlight the new releases that that our readers might be interested in!

Let’s kick this off by highlighting two rhythm-based titles that blindsided me with sudden releases this week: “reverse-shmup” Retro/Grade and charming platformer Sound Shapes, which Tony really enjoyed. With those out and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita arriving near the end of September, it’s great to see the Vita’s very-capable hardware finally get some love!

Sadly, there have been some releases shuffled, too. The fantastic Persona 4 Arena has been delayed to an unknown date in Europe, with publisher Zen United citing “technical difficulties”, perhaps related to known issues with online play on the Xbox 360 version. The situation is particularly frustrating as Persona 4 Arena is the first PS3 game to be fully region-locked, meaning that unless you have a NTSC PS3 (or Xbox 360), you’ve got no choice but to hope that it lands on EU shores soon! Bummer.

Still, for some, the wait will be non-existent as they keep themselves busy with masses of loot and levelling present on offer, starting with Guild Wars 2 on the PC in just a couple of days and concluding with Borderlands 2 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Friday 21st September. While I hyped up Guild Wars 2 last time, I didn’t realise the sequel to 2009’s insanely-addictive FPS/Diablo hybrid Borderlands would be gracing us so soon as well! Will the staff of Ready Up get anything done with these wonderful time-sinks in our lives? Hopefully, and maybe you’ll join us for a gaming night or two!
