The Ready Up Podcast – Season 2, Episode 2 – Cold Called

The second episode of season 2 sees Tony driving the show with John, alongside guests Simon Allen and Fran Shergold!

  • The games we play this episode is iPad heavy, Fran is loving board-type games like Carcassone and Path-ology HD and John is slamming down the road in CSR: Racing. Tony is still racking up the hours in Battlefield 3 and also hitting Binary Domain hard while Simon has been all about Batman: Arkham City.

  • Fran brings us Mists of Pandaria – the new World of Warcraft realm is revealed in a cinematic video.
  • Tony is super excited about all of the new stuff which is appearing in the upcoming GTA 5. Bikes, jets and parachutes!
  • Simon wonders at the lingering death of OnLive. Will it, won’t it, was it even viable? Fran has one of the consoles but she no longer uses it either.
  • Finally John despairs over the OUYA console – a geek dream or a potential bot-net nightmare?!

    I’ll third that Heavy Rain recommendation – it’s bloody excellent.

    I think I have to agree with John and Fran. Although Heavy Rain is a masterpiece, it’s the Uncharted games that have defined storytelling in gaming this generation, and the Mass Effect trilogy has just been so involving. Both Portals and Red Dead Redemption deserve honourable mentions from me, though, and looking to the future I can see The Last of Us being among this gen’s top picks when it’s out.
