Keeping Up With The Joneses… Finally!

This past month has been super hectic for me. From my work getting that little bit harder to me chasing references that I need to complete a very important application, I finally got to the end of my tether.  In such situations I either want to find a quiet place and just stuff my face with my new found treat of Häagen-Dazs strawberry cheesecake ice cream or I sit and ponder about buying something. As gorgeously yummy as the ice cream would have been, I decided to buy something instead.

Also during this hectic month, lady luck, or someone else of that nature, has smiled on me and I’ve been mentally preparing myself for a purchase which I can only describe as a long time coming. What I’m referring to my Ready-Uppers, is to finally buy me a Playstation 3.  Yep this is not a joke or a drill, I have now joined the Sony ranks and I’m ready to kick a couple of butts.

My lovely Playstation 3

What is just as awesome as me owning a Playstation 3 is that I now have all three consoles under my belt. Hazar! My gaming quest is now complete. I’ve even set up each of the consoles so they’re displayed on a snazzy unit I got from Argos (thanks Argos!).

And there are my babies, all on their new stand!

But it now means I have to start yet another gaming and accessories collection from scratch. Now this should be mega exciting for me but to be honest, it is actually quite daunting. Every time I look at my Playstation 3 I just keep thinking to myself; will I be able to find the awesome games I seek?  Do I really need to buy every accessory available? And how long will it be until my first console heartache? The answers to these questions I’m sure will all be revealed in due course and I’m sure I’ll be telling you all about it.

Welcome to the multi-console world of tomorrow!

    Recommendations:
Any of the PS3 exclusive titles (Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Warhawk, Buzz Quiz etc.)
On the PSN, Wipeout HD, Trash Panic and Pixeljunk: Eden (particularly Pixeljunk: Eden) I highly recommend.

As for accessories, unless you want to play Move the only one I’d recommend is the remote, which I see you already have. If you have a regular Bluetooth headset then you don’t need to buy the Sony one, although it is a lot better than a normal Bluetooth headset.

Also, if you want to use it for playing DVDs – don’t forget to turn the upscaling on in the menus, it makes a world of difference. And get the free Vidzone application from the PS Store to get yourself loads of streaming music videos.

Slightly off topic – personally, given my experiences with Argos furniture, I wouldn’t stack that many expensive consoles on any of it!

They fall under “Any of the PS3 exclusive titles” but yes, you are right, I shall fall on my sword for not mentioning two of the finest games I’ve ever played on any console.

Two words…Heavy Rain. That is all 🙂

I just got myself a PS3 too. Not a fan of the interface, but I guess I will get used to it. Loving Little Big Planet too (after waiting a whole blummin hour for all the updates to install).

Yeah, the extra long updates are a pain. They have got a bit better, but some have taken hours to download and install.
Little big Planet was the reason I got a PS3 🙂

Häagen-Dazs strawberry cheesecake ice-cream is yummy, and the PS3 is too. I just wish more of my friends played on it – at the moment I mostly use it as a Blu-ray player.

Heavy Rain was fantastic, and so was Pixeljunk Eden.

I’ve neglected my PS3 for a while now, but it will be back in play when the new Ico game makes an appearance! Uncharted 2 is just about one of the best games you could ever hope to encounter. Pretty much perfect on every level. I also loved Heavy Rain. I think Sony’s exclusives are generally a lot more diverse and better quality fare than Microsofts, although i still play the Xbox more because i enjoy its online interface and trophies don’t excite me as much as gamer points for some reason.

I need to get hold of a Wii again. Lot of good games appearing on that front. including that sexy looking Mist Walker RPG…

Guys thank you ever so much for your recommendations. I am glad to confirm that I do have Unchartered, Motorstorm and I have managed to borrow Heavy Rain, which I am totally loving right now! I am sooo obsessed of not letting Ethan die it’s totally nuts!

Anyway I have GOT to say, Celeste I am glad you recognise the strawberry cheescake ice-cream goodness. We must convert everyone else to our way of thinking!

Oh and Tony, I understand your reservations that my stand is from Argos, but don’t you worry your pretty head. My mighty hands have put this wood and shiny metal plastic thing and I believe it shall stand until I say so!

…but if the bugger does fall down, I am sure I will write a blog about it to help me vent! 😀
