Everything was going well at the Ready-Up meet up in London… almost too well. Eventually, once everyone looked up from their DS’s after what seemed like hours, the pub was completely empty. Not one punter to be seen and strangely enough there weren’t any staff trying to push everyone out for closing time. Not thinking much of it, everyone started to put on their coats when Dan looked out the window and couldn’t see two feet in front of him because of the dense fog.
Dan had suspected that something was going to happen that night after some strange events on the run up to the night out so he was well prepared. What looked like an ordinary luggage case was more like a doggy bag from a Taliban house party. He started to distribute the munitions amongst the community members and told them not to panic and stick together.
The crew were grabbing the first aid kits from around the bar. Gathering some bottles of spirits whilst tearing up shirts and placing the cloth carefully inside them.
As Dan kicked open the door he shouted “I’ll kill every last one of them if I have to!”, but the question was……
Will the Ready-Up Crew survive the zombie apocalypse and make it to Stringfellows alive?
True story, well it will be.
There has been an explosion of community members taking up the task of escaping desolate areas whilst being chased by hordes of infected. It looks as though Wednesday nights are Left 4 Dead night and loads of you are taking part which is great.
For those of you who have not been acquainted with possibly one of the best multiplayer games in recent times then here is a quick rundown. You will play as one of the four main survivors set in the immediate aftermath of a zombie invasion. There are four movie style campaigns that test your skills not only with your aim but the ability to play as a team also. You will traverse everything from abandoned underground rail tracks to rooftops in order to pick off infected and progress through each ‘movie’. For more information about the game head over to the Left 4 Dead review (NO!!!! After you read the blog you frickin N00B!!).
I know, I can hear you saying that there are LOADS of multiplayer games out there that are awesome, along the lines of the Gears of War series, the Call of Duty games and I could go on but I have to say that Left 4 Dead is the game that will bring people together the most and fight as a team. Valve have forced people to communicate and do it frequently making it ideal for the Ready-Up community.
I really enjoy working my way through all the campaigns because they never seem to play the same way twice. I can take different paths through the levels, the infected always attack in different ways and the weapons or first aid kits move around as well. Although I know the way to each of the safe houses I can never really second guess what is going to happen next, and even now after hours of game play I still don’t get bored.
A lot of people think that the game is too short and they may be right. It does not take long to work through the campaigns and there are only two of the them available for versus mode. Fortunately, due out in Spring, we will be blessed with downloadable content entitled L4D: Survival Pack. In this release we will see a new mutliplayer game mode called ‘Survival’ and the other two campaigns added to the rest for versus. The best thing about this is that on the 11th of February Valve announced that the DLC is going to be free for both PC and Xbox 360.
While I’m at it I should not forget to mention that Ready-Up’s own Newcode (Tony) is still running the Grand Theft Auto 4 nights on Mondays for anyone who is looking to play some more of that, or maybe dust down those skills to help with the Lost and Damned.
