Bit.Trip Complete

Bit.Trip Beat, Bit.Trip Core, Bit.Trip Void, Bit.Trip Runner, Bit.Trip Fate, and Bit.Trip Flux. These six games, which were first made available on the Wii via WiiWare, are now together on one disc, Bit.Trip Complete. The Bit.Trip series brings back the old school pixel charm and chucks in an addictive and unforgiving beat.

With each Bit.Trip game, you follow CommanderVideo as he goes on his psychedelic journey through sound, rhythm and challenging levels. Depending on which game you play, you will either use just the Wii remote or will need the use of the nunchuck. Before starting the game it explains which one you will need and you also get a small taste of what is to come.

Okay; so a quick rundown of what each game entails. In Beat your aim is to guide a paddle at the left side of the screen to bounce back the oncoming beats. Flux is exactly the same but the paddle is on the right side. You may think this is a cop out, but I assure you, it’s a heck of a lot harder. With Void you have to collect as many of the black beats as you can, expanding your mass before the white beats ‘pop’ you. By popping the mass yourself, you gain more points. Core involves using the D-pad to direct beams to hit each of the beats to the unforgiving rhythm. Runner and Fate are the only two games where CommanderVideo makes an appearance in some side scrolling action. Runner takes CommanderVideo on a mission to jump, punch and slide his way to victory. In Fate you travel across a line or vibe as you dodge attacks while firing at the enemy in order to and defeat the boss. With the exception of Runner, you get the chance to play co-op allowing your friends to help you battle through the gruelling levels.

To add to the excitement of the highly addictive yet excruciatingly hard games are the smattering of extras available. The collection gives you a further 20 levels per game, a free soundtrack of 18 songs and plenty of videos and artwork which can be unlocked. You also get an online leaderboard so you can see how well you do against your friends.

Whilst it may irritate you with how simple the games appear, but then how beyond difficult it is for you to get to the end unless you play it to near perfection, the Bit.Trip Collection offers so much content, making this an extremely desirable purchase. The Bit.Trip Collection is a game I advise that you buy as soon as possible!
