Soul Calibur 2 HD Online coming to XBOX 360 and PS3 this autumn

Let’s face it; 2 was the first Soul Calibur that most of us played. The first time we heard Voldo’s heavy breathing, or questioned the feasibility of Maxi’s nunchucks as a counter to Astaroth’s giant axe.

Well, fans of the series will be happy to know that an enhanced version of the game, Soul Calibur 2 HD Online, was announced at this year’s San-Diego Comic-Con, and will be available this autumn. Being based on the PS2 version of the game, the only ‘guest’ character that has been confirmed is Heihachi Mishima of Tekken fame. The publisher, Namco Bandai, refused to comment when asked if other guest characters, Link and Spawn, from the Gamecube and XBOX versions of the game, would also make an appearance.

Soul Calibur 2 was easily one of the best fighting games of the last generation, and the series is still on-going even now. The characters were varied, with interesting back stories and designs. With the possibility of new characters and other additional content for a HD remake, my expectations are high.

Spawn and Link won’t make an appearance due to their trademarks not being owned by Namco Bandai. 🙂
