At a pre-E3 press conference held earlier tonight, Konami showed off a new trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, the conclusion to the story of Gabriel Belmont.

(Warning: This news post and trailer contain major spoilers for the ending of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow)

The new game in the re-boot of Konami’s legendary Castlevania franchise follows-up from where the ending of the first Lords of Shadow left off.

Departing his dreary castle after a rather extended stay in-hiding, Gabirel Belmont – now reborn as Dracula through an unfortunate sequence of events – finds himself in a modern-day city, attempting to rid himself of his immortality by teaming up with old friend/foe, Zobek, avatar of Death and founder of the Brotherhood of Light.

Another title for the Nintendo 3DS, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, was released earlier this year, detailing the events between the two Lord of Shadows games. It introduced Trevor and Simon Belmont to the re-booted mythology, as well as fan-favourite Alucard.

Ready Up reviewed the original Lords of Shadow back in late 2010, where it was well-received. The trailer for the sequel, due “This Winter” on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox, is embedded below.

I really looking forward to playing this, but I hope Konami will announce a Collection or something with Lord of Shadow 1 + DLC and Mirror of Shadow for Sony system soon

    Can. Not. Wait!

Loved the original Lords of Shadow, especially its gorgeous soundtrack. Not a huge fan of this trailer though – it takes an age to get going, doesn’t work too well out of the context that is thankfully given in this article, and could do with a trim. In my informed albeit outsider’s opinion, I reckon they could have turned this still really good 6 mins 20 secs into an outstanding 3 minute video.

And is it just me, or is that a typo at 5:25 of the video? I thought it was the ‘Lords of Shadow’ saga since, y’know, all three games in the series have carried ‘Lords of Shadow’ in their titles, not ‘Shadows’.

    Maybe it’s just me.
