Demetrios: The BIG Cynical Adventure review

Demetrios: The BIG Cynical Adventure is a quirky point-and-click adventure game by Cowcat Games. Cameron goes on a journey filled with toilet humour, cookies and one questionable protagonist.

Bjorn Thonen is the ‘hero’ of the game, a slob of an antique dealer who lives in Paris. He comes home drunk one night to find that he has been robbed, and so begins an adventure where he tries to conduct his own investigation and ends up getting involved in all sorts of murky, mysterious events.

With interesting hand-painted visuals and an irreverent and liberal use of potty humour throughout, Demetrios is a cross between a point-and-click adventure and a visual novel. The gameplay itself runs to between 8 and 12 hours, and is never too challenging thanks to the ready availability of hint cookies to help you if you get stuck. Even so, you might find this much more palatable in short bursts and on the go.

Demetrios is available on Steam, PS4, Vita and Xbox One. Follow @DemetriosCowcat and find out more at demetriosgame.com.
