Susan and Verity attended EGX and played lots of games!
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is the prequel to 2008’s Mirror’s Edge. The game tells the origin story of Faith, one of many freerunners in the city of Glass, fighting for freedom. Susan is pleasantly surprised to discover that waiting in a queue and spying on the people who play the demo before you pays off when it comes to playing the game yourself.
Next, more indie games, this time with music, puzzles and cards. Susan was addicted to Superbeat Xonic while Verity couldn’t get enough of the wub-wub in Aaero. Just Shapes and Beats was music-driven bullet hell, Mushroom 11 was a curious cloud puzzler, Deckbound was an interesting series of card-based games and Word Party challenged Susan and Verity’s vocabularies and patience while building robots.
Then came the indie games with a horror twist: an ambitious vampire in I Want to be Human, a zombie horde in Dead Pixels 2: Straight to Video and a creepy mansion full of traps in 2Dark.
And finally, to close all of our EGX audio roundups, the last lot of indie games we saw. These were all space-themed: spaceship dogfights in Arclight Cascade, controlling a ship in Star Command Galaxies, trying to fix a broken ship in Starship Mechanic and more space battles in Aperion Cyberstorm.
