Once More Into the Rift

This post contains spoilers for Dragon Age: Inquisition.

This is pretty much my face every time I boot up Dragon Age: Inquisition at the moment.

The next mission is called ‘The Final Piece’, which suggests how close to the end I am. But I’m still gathering shards, doing a lot of, frankly ridiculous, requisition fetch quests and exhausting all possible conversations with my companions, trying to delay the inevitable. I’ll never get tired of kissing Cullen on the battlements, though.

The clock is creeping closer to 100 hours of gameplay and yet…

Just one more collectible...
Just one more collectible…

It’s been so much fun immersing myself in Thedas yet again, even through all of the agonising choices that this bastard of a game (sorry Dragon Age, I love you really) threw at me. Not as bad as Fran’s choice, though. Hah – random Warden ahoy! There was no contest. It’s an experience that I don’t really want to finish. I’ll run around with all my companions in various combinations, until I’ve heard every piece of banter. I’ll find all the landmarks. I’ll find all the shards.

The clock is creeping closer to 100 hours of gameplay and yet…

Then… when I’m finally ready… I’ll progress the story into its final stages. If the way it’s been going is any indication, it’ll be wonderful. Everything will come to a head, Coryphe-butt-face will meet his end, there’ll probably be a devastating twist of some kind, some consequence to Morrigan drinking from the well because since when is there not a consequence to gaining great power… There’ll be a party, one final scene with Cullen…

Oh Bioware, you can't keep doing this!
Oh Bioware, you can’t keep doing this!

Then I’ll weep. I’ll set the pad down, and watch the credits through my streaming tears.

Then I’ll start it all over again.
