The live-action project, titled “Jack’s Exodus”, sees Handsome Jack return to Pandora to do battle with psychos and the ninja/assassin/vault-hunter/robot guy Zero.
An exclusive screening of the full film will take place at the Games on Film Festival in Washington DC on Friday 3rd of January next year. A teaser trailer is embedded below.
Although the fan film is not officially endorsed by game developer Gearbox Productions, given the way that they encouraged fan projects in the past (such as modding Borderlands for a wedding proposal), it seems unlikely they will want to issue a cease & desist to the non-profit project.
Gearbox have been expanding the Borderlands franchise over the last year, with the series’ comic-foil Claptrap even making an appearance in Telltale’s Poker Night 2. More recently, they announced that an extensive collaboration with Telltale – who struck gold with last year’s The Walking Dead – to produce a series of episodic adventures based in the Borderlands universe.
More information about Jack’s Exodus can be found at the official website for the production.
