Now I do have a little background in game development and design. There’s a particular design which I’m quite proud of; I’d love to see someone put this together.
The idea is basically a mix between PayDay and Need for Speed. The main game will be a co-operative multiplayer, which is just basically a set of heists that you can pull off around an open world. Four players can join the game and they can each select what role they want to play. The main focus here would be on precision driving, not speed. Think about driving alongside a lorry, as the goods get unloaded into your car. Each heist would have different types and numbers of roles available. And each role will have its own series of objectives as the heist continues. Once each of the four slots for the heist are filled the game begins… now the best way for me to demonstrate how the game mechanics work, is to run through one of the heist designs I have in mind.
The Great Train Robbery
Four roles available: 2 Mules – 2 Blockers.
Mules basically carry things, they also have a passenger, who is available for certain actions. Blockers are heavy cars, designed to get in the way of police and protect the other drivers.
The premise. There is a large amount of cash being moved via freight train. There is a small stretch of land that runs alongside the track, giving you about 10 minutes to pull off the job. The train will not stop for anything, but the police will be alerted quickly. The mules, for which you will have a choice of various trucks, are tasked with driving alongside, to allow their passenger to cut open the side of the carriages and throw the loot into the truck. Precision driving is key here, they will need to keep steady, reckless driving will result in some cash being lost. It’s the job of the blockers to keep the police at bay. The police will try ramming the mules so the blockers need to hit first.
The main focus here, would be on precision driving, not speed…
Once as much cash has been collected as possible you need to escape. Whether you do this on your own or as a team is up to the individual. As a team you’d be able to help each other, if you split up the police force would also split up, making it easier to escape individually. If any member of the crew get caught, then the others’ cut is also reduced, just to try and promote a little bit of teamwork.
So that’s one basic heist there. I’ve got a few more ideas involving performing a robbery and driving onto a cargo plane to escape. Robbing a car transporter full of modern expensive sports cars. And hell, why not robbing a bank and tearing the vault through town. There we go there’s my game idea. No I don’t have the technical knowledge or free time to get this created, but I do often think about games I’d love to see come to life. So come on, someone get this made please!
