System update on the way to Xbox One

An Xbox Live update will be making its way to your console on the Tuesday the 10th of December to address a small set of issues users have been having with the new Xbox One dashboard.

Users experiencing performance problems with the Metro layout could well find they have little to complain about upon turning their console on, as will players who’ve spoken of issues with wireless connectivity, Smartglass and notifications.

Full patch notes:

  • Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
  • Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
  • Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
  • Addresses dashboard performance for some users
  • Offers improvements for Xbox One’s TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
  • Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some users

The update won’t be mandatory until this Thursday, but if you’ve set your console to auto-update then you may already have it.

The Xbox One’s dashboard has been host to the largest part of the problems consumers have been having with the console. It’s been criticised for sub-optimal performance, its confusing layout and being somehow less full-featured than the Xbox 360’s interface was.

Here’s hoping there are plenty more updates to come for the troubled UI.

Cheers, CVG.
