Final Fantasy VIII makes a surprise Steam appearance

Much like the appearance of Final Fantasy VII on the Steam store earlier this year Final Fantasy VIII has suddenly shown up on the store today.

The brand new port of the game comes with Steam achievements, Cloud saves and controller support. No doubt we can count support for modern computers, and some limited visual upgrades in kind with its predecessor.

Final Fantasy VIII has always lived in the shadow of it’s older brother, but perhaps a little bit of exposure down the line, just like this, can widen its audience.

It also comes with the lesser known Chocobo World game originally seen on the Pocket Station back in the day, and a Magic Booster feature that lets you beef up your spell inventory from the game’s launcher if you’re a big Cheaty McCheaterson.

You can find Final Fantasy VIII on Steam right here.
