Upgrade your Xbox One hard drive to speed things up a bit (and void your warranty)

The issue of storage has been a divisive one for both of the new consoles, both holding only 500GB (minuscule by modern PC standards) and having different ideas on how to offer expansion on it.

You’ve got the PS4 with the added bonus of allowing you to strip out the hard drive and replace it with a new one, so long as the replacement fits some pretty strict standards or the Xbox One with external hard drive support somewhere down the line.

But if you’re brave and/or tech savy enough you can open up your Xbox One and slip a brand new Hard Drive into the bulky bugger. Even SDDs and hybrid drives will work, surprisingly enough, and doing so can even cut loading times by a small margin. We’re willing to bet they’d cut install times even more.

This revelation comes at the hands of YouTuber Brian Williams who released a video on his channel showing Xbox One loading times contrasted between two replacements and the stock drive.
