Sony’s PlayStation 4 has only been out since Friday 29th November and sale numbers show that it has sold over 250K units in its first weekend – that’s 100K more units than the Xbox One a week before in the same amount of time. MCV estimates that the PS4 has sold £87m in that 48 hours period.
PS4 exclusive Killzone Shadow Fall started at No.4 of the UK’s chart, helped by the fact that it was included in PlayStation 4 player edition bundle. Another Sony exclusive, Knack, made it to the 13th spot in the same chart.
The previous record selling launch was attributed to another Sony console, the PSP held the crown of fastest selling console at 180K units for eight years.
