Eidos Montreal have today laid out their plans for the future of the Deus Ex franchise, or as they like to call it Deus Ex: Universe. Yes, a trademark filed a while back that sounded like it might have been a new game was in fact for a mass-media extravaganza. Or so Eidos hopes. I’m right with them as the original Deus Ex, and the recent Human Revolution were both seminal games, and I even enjoyed Invisible War. There’s something about that world that I just love, which is why I’m thrilled that part of the Universe Eidos is building currently involves a next generation title (expect PS4, XBox One and PC).
With no subtitle to report just yet, and no details other than a single beautiful piece of concept art, its hard to get too excited. However, this being Deus Ex, and likely being a follow up to Human Revolution, and still a prequel to the original, expect more gold tinting, transhumanist jargon, and the hint of a vast conspiracy behind it all. I can even think of a catchy title that they could use.
