Persona 4 Arena Receives Ultimax Update in Arcades

The update will be known in Japan as the fantastically titled Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold. Ultimax will not only feature two favourites from Persona 3’s S.E.E.S force (Yukari Takeba and Junpei Iori) but also an all-new unknown fighter, Sho Minazuki.

Additionally, Arena’s extended story – which took place in-universe during May 2012, shortly after Persona 4’s original “True Ending” – will continue on, likely tying up the fates of the two investigation teams.

Sadly, the update has not been formally announced for consoles, though if it is successful in arcades, it is likely to manifest in at least DLC form, especially given the success of Persona 4: Golden. It is unknown how Atlus’ recent acquisition by SEGA Sammy Holdings will affect any release plans for a new game.

Atlus have released a trailer expanding on some of the new features (including new stages based on Persona 3’s Dark Hour and Tarturus), embedded below.
