Incoming – September Plus

Welcome back to our feature where we aim to outline the new releases that that our readers might be interested in.

By the time you read this, the holiday rush of early September will have already taken effect, with Diablo III debuting on consoles via the PlayStation 3 and a Castle of Illusion remake to remind us of childhoods spent with a Master System or Mega Drive. If Mickey Mouse doesn’t quite scratch that platforming itch, there’s also the Vita release of the superb Rayman Legends on 13th September, with Sony’s own PS3 game Puppeteer offering a unique alternative on the very same day.

If RPGs are more your thing, then you’ll be well-sated with a selection that spans both home consoles and portables and includes Etrian Odyssey IV, Kingdom Hears HD 1.5 ReMIX and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner – Soul Hackers. There’s also a new farming title in Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning, which should satisfy those still recovering from their Animal Crossing addictions.

Of course, for most of our readers, the highlight of the month may well be Grand Theft Auto V, which has steadily been building hype through a number of impressive trailers. With five years (!) since the last numbered GTA entry hit store shelves, we’ll finally find out if the wait was worth it on 17th September when it’s released for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

But even with all these new titles, this year seems to be the ideal time to catch up with popular games you might have missed. In particular, there’s (literally) hundreds of hours on offer between The Elder Scrolls Anthology and Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection (which finally includes a PSN code for Metal Gear Solid, though it’s still missing Portable Ops), both arriving mid-month.

Finally, while Demon’s Souls has left the EU PlayStation Plus service, it has gained (among others) Assassin’s Creed 3, just in time for players to get caught up for the release of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag next month!
