It has emerged that some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of GTA V via the Playstation Store in Europe gained access to game’s assets and information which were then leaked online.
Sony published a statement about the incident on the PlayStation Blog:
“Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on 17th September.”
Rockstar issued their own statement on the matter on their official website expressing how “deeply disappointed by leaks and spoilers being spread in advance of the game’s launch” they were. And in a bid to contain the leak from spreading, the company asks that no one discusses or shares spoilers on its website, anyone who does so will have their commenting privileges revoked.
This isn’t however the only news for GTA V this weekend, Rockstar has confirmed that the game has now gone gold and is ready to be manufactured for its release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on 17th September.
