Players who pre-order Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will gain access to it on 24th August, ahead of its official launch on 27th August on PC and PlayStation 3.
A final “Phase 4” beta weekend will run on the weekend of 17th – 19th August. With over a million players signed up for the beta, the final beta weekend will likely be a server stress-test for the retail launch. The web-site for beta sign-ups is temporarily offline until the final beta weekend officially begins.
A Realm Reborn will include a 30-day subscription, which can be extended in increments of 30, 60 or 90 days. Square Enix also announced that players who tried the original Final Fantasy XIV will receive free access to A Realm Reborn until 9th September.
Final Fantasy XIV was first released almost three years ago in September 2010, where it was met to universal criticism, despite almost five years in development. Square Enix later apologised to customers and began development on A Realm Reborn, a considerable revamp of the game.
