The original DuckTales was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1989 and was later joined on the system by other well-regarded Capcom titles, such as Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck.
Capcom revealed the news in a press release issued earlier today, where they announced that DuckTales: Remastered would be available for all current platforms, though Xbox owners will have to wait an extra month:
“Life is like a hurricane, as Capcom today announced that DuckTales: Remastered will officially release from this August on all major platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Across Europe, the game will be available for digital download on August 13 for PC, August 14 on PSN, August 15 via the Nintendo eShop on Wii U, with an XBLA version launching September 11. DuckTales: Remastered is priced at €14.99.”
The new version of the game comes to us courtesy of WayForward, a company that got its start in the industry with educational software, but is now known for their quality updates of retro properties, with titles such as Contra 4, A Boy and his Blob (Wii) and Double Dragon Neon under their belt. If anyone has a chance of doing the infamous Moon level justice, it’s probably them.
But if you can’t wait until August 13th to see how Remastered has turned out, Capcom has you covered with a series of “Duckumentaries” due between now and release, with the first one (embedded below) covering the creation of background assets.
