We previously reported on the action RPG last month after primary coder wollay launched a website for the game at the tail-end of E3, outlining the gameplay mechanics in detail.
Most of the initial features described on the website have made it into the first open alpha, including multiplayer support. However, quest-givers have still to be implemented, meaning that majority of players will be spending any time in-game exploring, crafting and dungeon-raiding.
The online store for Cube World made it less than an hour before it went offline on Tuesday afternoon. Since then, developers Picroma have focused their efforts on restoring services to successful buyers, as well as developing a new game launcher to minimise server-load.
Robert Clarke, the technician behind the hosting of several large Minecraft websites, even offered to help wollay cope with the demand via twitter: “I would be MORE than happy to dedicate server space, completely free of charge, just let me know.” The store has been stable since it re-launched earlier this morning.
Following a model similar to the one Notch infamously utilised with Minecraft, Cube World can be purchased in its alpha state for £12/€15/$20. This will entitle you to the current version of the game and all updates up to (and including) its release, when the price is expected to increase.
