The Witcher 2 has free development / modding tools

The Witcher 2’s developer CD Projekt Red as officially released the development tools, for modifying and creating your very own Witcher 2 content, for free on their website.

REDKit is still in open beta, but is now available to download worldwide for free. The tools are purposefully made to be as easy to use as possible, and have the ability to modify and build the terrain of the landscape to creating an entirely new non-linear storyline using The Witcher 2’s engine. CD Projekt Red have been synonymous in the gaming community for being the most open and generous PC-exclusive developers when it comes to their fan base, and it seems they wish to continue this tradition.

For CD Projekt RED, RPGs are all about telling amazing stories. We want to give players the power to tell the same kind of non-linear, branching stories that made The Witcher games so popular,” said Adam Badowski, CD Projekt Red’s CEO. “Our fans have helped us for years to make our games the best they can be, and REDkit is part of embracing our community as a partner in game development.

REDKit is available now, for free. The badass trailer for The Witcher 2’s new REDkit development tools can be seen below for all your RPG modding needs.
