Additionally, players who pre-order the game now will receive the “Greek States Culture Pack” – downloadable content which adds the Athens, Epirus and Sparta factions. This content is expected at launch, alongside the Pontus faction day-0 DLC, free to everybody who buys the game.
But if pre-order DLC isn’t enough for you, there’s also a mammoth collector’s edition in the works. Priced at £110 and limited to 22,000 units, the set re-defines “exclusive”, but does include the following goodies:
- A game steel-book, marked with a unique serial number written in Roman numerals
- A Total War card game, Punic Wars
- A set of replica Roman dice and roundels
- A cloth map of the game campaign
- A magnetic collector’s box, which doubles as a classic Roman game board
- And finally, a kit to construct a fully functional scale-model of a catapult
As announced at GDC 2013, developers Creative Assembly are also working on a free-to-play DOTA-style multiplayer game, Total War: Arena, expected “soon”.
