Today seems to be the day of closure announcements. It is time to mark some more dates on your 2013 calendar because SimCity Social, The Sims Social, and Pet Society will be shutting up shop permanently on June 14th this year.
The biggest surprise of the shut downs comes in the form of SimCity Social that will have a total lifespan of less than one year, as it was only launched on June 25th last year.
In a statement on the official SimCity Social forum, their Lead Community Manager said: “We know that you may be disappointed by this. Retiring games is never easy, we hope you’ve enjoyed playing SimCity Social as much as we enjoyed making it. Thank you to all of our passionate and dedicated players for supporting SimCity Social. We hope to see you in some of our other titles on Facebook and other platforms.”
There were statements made for each individual game closure, but all three were the same paragraph as above with the game title swapped out.
If you have any in-game money remaining in these games you are advised to spend them as soon as possible, because when June 14th rolls around their will become invalid and no refunds will be given. Ever.
