Scanned images from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu have today revealed that a new entry in the Drakengard series is in development, with the PlayStation 3 as its target platform.
The series, known as Drag-On Dragoon in Japan, was previously developed by the now-defunct software house Cavia and published by Square Enix. Development of the mature action-RPG will now be headed up by Access Games, supervised by Nier-director Yoko Taro.
This is good news for fans of Access Games’ previous release Deadly Premonition, a quirky open-world survival-horror experience that, despite some technical issues, garnered a cult-following and even a Director’s Cut re-release last year on the PlayStation 3.
Although no Western release has been promised, the previous titles in the Drakengard series were eventually released here on PlayStation 2.
