Metro: Last Light was originally scheduled for release in March, but following THQ’s recent bankruptcy and sale of the franchise the game’s release remained uncertain. Now Koch Media, parent company to Deep Silver, has announced the release will happen on May 17th in the UK, and May 14th for North America.
The sequel to 2010’s Metro 2033 takes place in the year 2034, where nuclear war has turned the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland meaning the former inhabitants of Moscow must take to the tunnels of the Metro to survive.
Though the delay would be understandable given the very recent handover, Koch Media were quick to reassure fans they would do more with the extra time:
“We won’t leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves,” said Koch Media’s chief executive, Klemens Kundratitz. Menno van der Bil, International Commercial Director of Deep Silver, also added: “We would like to thank all of the Metro fans for their patience. And we can assure them that we have a lot more coming their way with the franchise.”
Metro: Last Light is set to be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation3, and PC on May 17th in Europe, and May 14th in North America.
