Yo! How’s it all going? Good? OK. Me? Well in the past month I’ve been super swamped. With a majority spent with me trying to look busy and not board the wrong train home (don’t ask!), the slither of time I have left is split between sleeping and eating. I’m sure we can all relate to going through periods of time where you’re just too darn active to sit down and have the marathon gaming sessions you used to have! To those who feel my pain this post is for you. Below are my recommendations of the best games to play during your daily commute.
Puzzle Poker – iPhone / iPad (Free)
Making poker into a 5 x 5 puzzle grid is a fantastic way to spend your journey time. Within the grid, your aim is to make the best hand in each column and row. With each round you are given a target score to reach in order to pass the particular difficulty. Once done the score increases and you will need to find different combinations with the existing cards you have. For anyone who is unsure as to what is a good hand to have, there is a Hands Value list to refer to. According to the game’s synopsis, it would take a super computer millions of years to figure out all the combinations available. All you need to do is make enough to get your target score. Easy.
Pingu’s Quest – Android (Free)
Aren’t penguins just the cutest?! And what do the little fellas like to eat? Hamburgers! Wait, I mean fish. Your job is to throw little Pingu to where the tasty fish is. In each level you are given various icons which help change Pingu’s direction, blast him high into the sky or even teleport his way to his supper. You can also try and grab the floating coins scattered around the level. They not only boost your total score but you do feel like a badass when you’re able to collect all the coins before getting the fish. Yeah, it sounds a little odd but trust me, the game is definitely one to play.
Candle Route – Nintendo 3DS (£1.80)
Do you get that warm, tingly feeling when you’ve helped a lost flame find his candle buddies? Well this game is right up your street. Your aim is to help Sparky find the correct number of Match-babies and guide them safely to light the Candle man. To guide Sparky on his epic puzzling adventure, touch the area you wish to explore and a flag will appear showing the route Sparky will take. But be warned. You are only allowed to use a certain amount of flags per round. There is also another mode to play known as Side B. Here you move Sparky using the D-pad to find the Match-babies which are hiding in the dark and guide them to the awaiting rocket. These levels are timed and even give you a suggested time limit to complete it in. Will you be able to beat their target?
I hope you guys get a chance to check these games out. Until next time, keep on puzzlin’!
