Stumped – Stop! Puzzle Time

Welcome to Stumped, your numero uno place to get all your puzzle game news and opinions. Here I’ll be talking about one of my favourite parts of gaming: puzzles. Now everyone has probably played some form of puzzle game in a variety of capacities so hopefully you will be able to appreciate my mini obsession. In Stumped I’ll be looking at the latest puzzle releases, upcoming games to look out for and I may even chuck in a couple ‘games you should totally play’ recommendations from my own puzzle collection, or ‘plection’, as I like to call it.

Okay, so to kick things off, let’s look at the top three upcoming and recent releases that I cannot wait to get my sticky mitts on, closely followed by what I’ve been playing recently.

Fifteenky, available for iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) for 69p, is a tile sliding game where you get to piece together paintings by famous artists. There are 25 paintings to complete and as the game progresses the amount of pieces in each puzzle increases, making the game that little bit harder.

Can you guess what this is?

Next is Bubble Blitz, now available on the Android market, which is all about bursting bubbles before they hit the water line. Also, to make the game trickier, each bubble falls like a brick to the water line, and with each bubble being colour coded, you can only burst them if you have chosen that specific colour. Made by indie company, Oora Games, Bubble Blitz comes with four playable modes: endless, colour blind, speed pop, and the unlockable cruel mode.

POP go the bubbles!

Now it is time to get your hat and magnifying glass and start sleuthing. With the upcoming The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, which is the sixth game developed by Frogwares to be released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC, the game seems more dark and edgy than its predecessors. The story follows Sherlock as he is blamed for several different crimes so it is up to you to clear Sherlock’s name. While we are still waiting for a release date, you can check out the previous Sherlock Holmes games in the series and also look at some really cool video teasers right here.

This is how every investigation should start ‒ staring into the distance.

Now I get the chance to gush over a game which I think is amazing and would demand that everyone else should be playing right now, no questions asked. Over the past few weeks I have been addicted to this game. You may have already heard of it. Heck, you may even be playing a game of it right now on your mobile phone like I am. Yep, I am talking about Draw Something. Available as a free or paid download on both Android and iOS, Draw Something is a new take on the Pictionary game where you get to draw a particular word which is sent to your opponent to try and guess.

My interpretation of Zelda on Draw Something.

Although this is just a tiny smattering of the puzzle games which I think rock, so make sure you check out the next Stumped for more puzzle news and reviews. Until then, keep on puzzlin’!

I’m so bad at Draw Something. I can’t even draw arrows to point to things.
