And this is my favourite gaming website on the Citadel! I mean Internet. I have finally completed Mass Effect 2. I know, how shocking. I purchased it when I visited my dad in Australia on its release date. And then I couldn’t play it for a month till I returned home. It was torture. The reason why I took so long to complete the game was because once I had completed it I couldn’t move onto the next Mass Effect game. I completed all the DLC, had an alien romance with Garrus of course, took my squad through the Omega 4 relay and got them all home in one piece. No one gets left behind on my watch!
I didn’t enjoy Mass Effect 1, I’ll be honest. I remember buying it back in 2006 and still, six years on I haven’t completed it. It’s not the graphics or the story, it’s the battle system; I suck at shooters. But I wanted to try because I love RPGs and a space one was not going to pass me by. So how far did I get before I stopped? Not far. I made it to the Citadel and just stopped playing. I will try and start playing it again, I’m determined to at least make it half way through the game. Mass Effect 2 was different. To me it was like Bioware had scrapped the complicated battle system and made the game more for RPG fans and yet still had some fun for the shooter lovers. Plus I liked the characters more, Grunt and Mordin made me laugh, Kasumi and Samara were great female characters and of course Garrus was back. So happy bunny all round!
And March is almost here. Mass Effect 3 will soon be upon us. I have mixed emotions of excitement and sadness. With Jessica Chobot and Freddie Prinze Jr added to the star cast, Mass Effect 3 is going to be a game to be remembered. I have my N7 Collectors Edition on pre-order and the baby is going to take pride with my other collectors editions. Will this be the last time I see Commander Shepherd? No longer will I hear Joker’s witty dialogue? Can’t hold Garrus in my arms? Ahem, sorry about that. The ending of something great is always hard. But this isn’t the end of the Mass Effect universe, but it maybe the last time we see Shepherd? I, for one, hope not.
