Ready Up Game Awards 2010

So that was 2010, eh? What a year for gaming! I know, I know, we always say that but this year really was quite extraordinary. New technology like the Move controller, Kinect and 3D gaming have brought a host of new possibilities for the medium of games, although so far it’s mostly involved jumping about like a loony in front of the telly. Some incredible games have captured our imagination this year too. The team have discussed the various merits of what 2010 has brought and we’ve decided on our favourites. Rather than a list of categories as long as your arm and a ton of nominations that serve just to remind you what actually came out we thought instead we’d just have a few categories that reflect what we think are the most important elements of gaming. So here they are, the Ready Up team’s Game Awards 2010.

Mass Effect 2

Couldnt have picked a better list. Mass Effect 2 and RDR are likely to be recalled as two of the standout games of this generation for years to come. Instant classics written all over them.

Wow, fantastic list. Glad to see Mass Effect 2 and 3 chosen. When I do think on it, I do agree with Final Fantasy being the biggest disappointment.

Nice selection. Although i take issue with FF13 being biggest disappointment. Its not perfect but i think a lot of people missed the point…

I stand by my votes for Bayonetta. I think everyone forgot about it, but it was an awesome game and it was released in January.

Pretty much what I picked, but you couldn’t really go wrong this year. Lots of love for every platform with all of the above and the likes of Bayonetta, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Starcraft 2, SSFIV, Super Meat Boy, Sin and Punishment 2, Heavy Rain, etc. Great stuff!

I would have added Heavy Rain to that list and LA Noire 😉

I never seem to agree with anyone else on the team, so this year I was pleased to see that my vote for John Marston from RDR actually won. Every year so far I’ve never nominated a single winner in any category!

(and yes, Heavy Rain would have been up there if it was my list)

Heavy Rain got votes in almost every category but not enough in any one to win outright unfortunately.
