Applicants must have solid spelling and grammar.

Most importantly you must be able to display a keen knowledge of and interest in gaming.

What we can offer you

This is an exciting opportunity to hone your writing skill and take the first steps in a career in journalism.

Ready Up is a non-profit organisation and as such there is no payment for work however you will be provided with promotional copies of games for review purposes.

How to apply

If you’d like to apply for a position email us at [email protected] and tell us a bit about yourself and why you think you’d make a good addition to the team. You can send us links to any blogs you keep, writing you’ve had published or if you don’t already have those you could write us a brief sample blog. You have to be over 18 years old to apply. If you’ve previously contacted us about a position and have been unsuccessful don’t let that put you off trying again. The last time we advertised for writers we received an avalanche of applications. It’s brilliant to have so many passionate gamers and budding journalists want to be a part of Ready Up but it could take us a good few weeks to get back to you as we like to give every application our full attention. If you don’t hear from us soon please be patient. We’ll do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can. The very best of luck to you!

We hope you’ll take the time to have a look around the site if it’s your first visit. Make sure to pop on our super friendly forum and say hello!

Applications will be accepted up until 27th of August 2010

Last time you did this your ONE position got you inundated with applicants. Good luck sorting through them this time too. 😀

I’m almost tempted to go for it. One problem–I’m in Hawaii, which would make attending press events next to impossible. Game reviews would be possible, except the postage would be, above average. Still, kind of tempting.

  3. […] Apply to be a Staff Writer Whilst not a “good read”, it is kind of relevant. Ready Up have three staff writer positions going. My friend from University, Duncan, writes for them, so I figured I’d take a stab at applying. I don’t fancy my chances, as apparently will get a load of applicants, but what’s the worst that can happen? […]

i am seventeen at the moment but my birthday is on october the 1st. Is there any chance that applying now would still allow me even the slightest chance of being accepted.

Do you have to be located in the UK to be considered for the position?

Hi everyone. I’m Tony, one of the Staff Writers. Answers to some of your questions:

    1) You don’t have to be based in the UK, but obviously it would help with attending press events (which, trust me, are great fun!)

    2) You have one month to get your applications in. (No-one asked this here but someone did on the forum)

    3) As for the age limit, as long as you’re 18 by the time you start (probably 6-8 weeks from now) then you should be fine.

    Good luck, everyone.

I’m very interested in this so expect to hear from me soon. The writing bit I’m ok with but it’s the attending of events that worries me. If this isn’t possible then will applicants still be able to produce copy for the site (if of course you’ve been chosen)?

Well…I’ve applied, I hope crossing my fingers for several weeks wont negatively impact my gaming…or ability to have working fingers.

Interesting point of view. Im curious to think what type of impact this would have globally? People obviously get frustrated when it begins to affect them locally. Ill check back to see what you have to say.
