Far, far ago in the misty mists of time and space, six intrepid Ready Uppers set off for the most gruelling 24 hour drive of their lives. Jumping through hoops positioned really stupidly in the sky, being mocked and destroyed by tiny little toy cars and even smashed to bits by a rather annoying orange flying car… which may have been mine… in a quest that would go down in video gaming history. And in the Guinness Book of World Records… Gamer’s Edition!
After all of the verbal abuse, 12 inch Subways and 80s rock ballad singing, we came out with a Guinness World Record for the ‘longest marathon playing a racing game lasting 24 hours’. So to celebrate Ready Up’s World Record and the release of the Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer’s Edition we are giving away 3 copies of this awesome book.
(BTW…along with Ready Up’s 24 hour racing record, my second record for the most people dressed as a video game characters is also there. I made sure I got to the front of the other 375 for that photo – and if you get a magnifying glass – you’ll be able to see me on page 11 of the book dressed in a pink and black Ulala costume and fellow RU hotty Susan as Faith from Mirror’s Edge above a much larger picture of our lovely Kirsten and the other Ready-Uppers – grr! But that’s OK, I have another pic on page 22. Yay!)
Not only does the book have loads of great records like ours (and all the Twin Galaxies approved gaming high scores) it’s also a repository of loads of interesting and fun game facts – like the fact that the most played game in the world is still Snake on Nokia phones, the first game made for playing with your posterior is Raving Rabbids TV Party – and my favourite fact of all: the largest virtual theft in a MMORG. Turns out some bloke in EVE Online set up his own bank, and then after a while – stole all the cash… 790 billion worth! Makes Northern Rock seem tame by comparison. So, to find out what happened to him, as well as finding out thousands of other facts and statistics – you’ll just have to win a copy of the book by answering this question. Or, you know, you could buy it. But where’s the fun in that?
A film was made about getting the world record on Donkey Kong, featuring Twin Galaxies. What was it called?
A. King of Kong
B. The ***king Kong champ!
C. Donkey Kong Derby
The competition closes on the 28th of January, so get your entry in fast, like faster than the fastest unaided completion of Portal on Xbox 360 (which took only 24 minutes – page 140 of the Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer’s Edition).
