I am lucky enough to live in a gaming household. I am a gamer, Kirsten is a gamer, our son Max is a gamer. On our walls we have video game artwork. There is presently a newly repaired replica wooden Keyblade waiting for the glue to set in our hall and you’d be forgiven for thinking the TV was being held up by all the consoles underneath it.
Basically, we play games. So it should come as no surprise that when we came to buy a pet a year or so ago that he was given the name Ryu. Ryu means Dragon, our Ryu is a cat. Taking this name quite to heart he can be a bit of a fighter, I have long suspected that the Dark Hado burns deep within his soul. We often play fight leaving me with scratches and scars on my arms but, just like his namesake, this is just him showing a dedication to training. His real target, his Akuma if you will, is the bare ankles of Kirsten and Max. Just about every morning I hear their screams as he unleashes his Shun Goku Satsu upon their unsuspecting lower limbs.
Recently though he has taken even more of an interest in combat, it seems he can see our newly replaced LCD TV much better than its Plasma predecessor and he has taken to spectating during my frequent games of Street Fighter IV. Unfortunately for me he likes to get right into the action, as you can see below.
He seems to follow the action well even looking away between rounds. I generally play as Ryu in SFIV so I guess he’s just cheering me on. I’d forgive you for thinking that was just a one off but also this undoubtably cute behaviour can last many, many rounds.
Ladies and gents, I present to you… Ryu, The World Warrior.
