I Believe I can Sing, Shoot and Drive

While I was at work, I got to have my weekly shot to flex my geek muscle and not be ridiculed or mocked for my passion for games by my colleagues. I was telling a friend of mine how much I’ve been jamming to Guitar Hero: World Tour on my Xbox 360. Lucky for me she was able to share in my joy by telling me about her experience of playing Guitar Hero: World Tour on her DS. As we talked about the game and sharing strategies of how to truly rock out, another friend of mine laughed at our enthusiasm. I did ask why this was and she explained that it was because we spoke about the game like we were actually playing a guitar. Now at first I tried to deny it but when I thought about it… I really did.

Rock out like it's 2009! Oh yeah!
I’m not too sure how everyone else’s lives are but mine can be pretty repetitive. Going to work, coming home, rinse and repeat is all that I do on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I do have a social life and from time to time I do go out but at times I do yearn for a lot more. Now since I can’t sing for toffee, fight like a Ken from Street Fighter or be anything like Marcus Fenix from the good ol’ Gears of War series (since I’m always being told it’s illegal to shoot anyone these days), I have to turn to my games for that added excitement.  Owning a game which allows you to immerse yourself into the action has become a necessity, to make it successful. If you can’t believe, even for a little bit, that the actions that you have to perform are going to get you anywhere then I think it sucks out all the fun from your gaming experience.

Marcus Fenix. Kicking butt and being tough… everything I'm not
So what has been tingling my gaming senses recently I hear you cry? Well, as you may have already guessed, I’ve been playing Guitar Hero: World Tour. Now I like to believe that I could learn to play an instrument if I really put my mind to it; since my level of motivation is usually at a zero and I am the queen of procrastination, I feel it would simply never happen. Now I’ve been looking for another game to get my teeth into and I’ve always wanted to give the Guitar Hero series a shot so I thought now would be the time to finally get it. At first I did think that I would play it every once in a while but I didn’t know how quickly I would be addicted. With my alter-ego created, which looks absolutely nothing like me and my ‘axe’ (as I call it) decorated with the stickers I got for free, I was ready to JAM. I am still in the midst of playing through career mode on easy and I’m not exactly a female Jimmy Hendrix, but I must say I’m loving every minute of it!
