Hey, another girl gamer, cool!
To be honest, I tend to play male avatars more often than females. I don't know why, I just do. When I do make a female char though, I either just use the sliders in an attempt to make her as un-ugly as possible (re: Oblivion), or sometimes I model them after one of my RP chars. ME2 didn't have a ton of customization available compared to other games (Dragon Age for instance?) but what I could do, I did, in an attempt to turn my badass faerie princess into a war-hardened commander general. Now if they had different voice options available, preferrably something a little less smoker-sounding, that'd be swell << I like that Soul Calibur IV lets you speed up or slow down the voices for even more options.
Now if only SCV allowed you to make chars of different heights!

I've tried the way of customisation in Mass Effect and Oblivion but eventually gave up (on the second game at least) and, after a fair bit of messing about and laughing hysterically at some of the results, slapped myself and ended up with a blue skinned elf with a shock of white hair. Shame there was no option for red eyes...

I'll pretty much always make a female character if I'm given the choice, its much easier to empathize with a female character than some burly Space marine type guy and is also alot easier on the eyes.

There is one exception to this rule in saints row 2 , well i'l let the pic speak for itself

and yes that's me dressed and a fat naked mime and my driver is Tiq!

I never spent much time of customisation or characters or cars, or homes in games. Saints Row did make it easy to pimp your home but that's as far as it goes for me really.

I tried the Rainbow Six option but my character based on me looked hideous. And in Obliviona nd Mass Effect, I just tried to make someone who didn't look like a tit.

It is a good feature to have in games as you can personalise it more, but I don't spend much time on it.

Ha ha your Jordan comment made me chuckle.

Your SC4 character looks like Cameron Diaz to me. The R6: Vegas Live Vision support took more patience than I had - I also hated the way you couldn't do anything with the hair, so everyone had massive comb-overs! Green ones in many cases!

I guess I usually try to create something resembling myself in games, but recently I've been trying something else.

Make a celebrity and put them in a game entirely out of context. I had Andi Peters as a magician archer in Oblivion, and now Mike Tyson as a melee saint in Fallout 3.

It passes the hours.

I love customisation in games. Saints Row 2 blew me away with its character editor, and my wife loves just playing around with it and designing wacky characters, even though I haven't convinced her to actually play the game yet...

I put together a collage some of my own avatars from a variety of games a while back. Unfortunately, I had lent SR2 to my brother, so by dreadlocks sporting British accented killer isn't included.

And just my Xbox Avatars:

I used to spend hours just on character creation in City of Heroes as well. So much fun. Aion has an incredible system too.

Customisation is the greatest thing in games. In my mind, there is a direct correlation between the fun I will have with a game and the size of the afro, the in-game editor allows my avatar to have.
