After basking in my joy of winning a Tennis match, but only to then be brought crashing down to earth in the football, I decided it was time to check out what else there was on offer.
Clubs were something I had read about both on the games forums and had seen quite a few people talking about in game. They work quite simply like a guild / clan system where likeminded people and friends can come together as one. Making the club was quite easy; I paid a bit of silver (which you earn from quests and competing in matches), gave some details such as a name and it’s all sorted.
You then get your own chat channel to talk amongst yourselves, which will no doubt help with your plans for sporting domination, all good stuff in all.
Since I last detailed my adventures I have tried the various other sports on offer, all of which I enjoyed (and suck really badly at – let’s just say, thank goodness that bobsleigh drivers wear helmets).
Each of the sports offer their own unique way of playing them, yet all are simple enough for you to pick up in no more than ten minutes. The bobsleigh; despite my awesome ability to slam into walls, thus ruining my time, was one of my favourites. Simple key presses will get you started and from then on in it’s the arrow keys to guide your sleigh around the track, and in particular the corners of icy impending doom.
It was during the time trying out the various sports that got me thinking. There was no fixed path for me to follow, I was out on my own, choosing the sporting career that I wanted.
If you wanted you could play out the jack of all trades where you spend your time evenly across the six events and become quite good at them all. Then again, you could devote all your time to just one sport, working only the muscle groups that would benefit your chosen career.
It really is a case of do what you want, and be who you want to be. Fancy yourself a bit of a Bobsleigh demon, go for it! Perhaps you like the Tennis and Football combination, that works too.

It’s an interesting take on the whole MMO experience, and one that works quite well. It’s simply a case of offering you the tools and letting you decide how you wish to use them. It was something I really enjoyed, a sense of freedom to choose my own path without invisible hands guiding me all the way down narrow paths.
As with all things MMO, things change over time, so it’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in the future, but from the time I’ve played, I’m sure it’ll be a healthy and enjoyable journey. We’ve already seen big support from the likes of Roland Garros (French Open: Tennis) and it’s now time for the Athletics to take centre stage with the Spring meet, good times.
